Privacy
We film football, not people's lives, and this page is meant to be read rather than filed. It says exactly what we hold, why we hold it, and how to make us delete it.
Who we are
HighlightsHub takes match footage uploaded by whoever organised the game, cuts the goals out of it, and gives the players a reel they can watch and share. We decide how the information below is used, which makes us the data controller for it.
What we hold, and why
Your account. Your name, email address and what kind of account it is. We need these to sign you in, to put your name on goals you tag, and to email you when something you care about happens.
Match footage. The recording an organiser uploads, and the short clips cut from it. The footage is the whole point of the service, so we hold it to provide it. We also use it, together with the goals our editors mark in it, to build our own software for finding goals and other moments in a match, so reels are quicker to make. That work runs on our own systems and on suppliers working for us: Cloudflare stores the video, Modal and GitHub run the processing, and Anthropic and Google check short clips. Footage is never sold, and none of these suppliers may use it to train their own products.
Your player profile, if you fill it in. The positions you play, your preferred foot, your nationality and the team you support show on your player card and profile, which anyone with the link can see. The city you live in and your year of birth are only shown to you. All of it is optional, and you can change or clear it at any time.
Goals you tag as yours. When you say you scored or assisted a goal, we record that against your account so it shows on the reel and adds up in your Hub. You choose to do this; nothing tags you automatically, and no face recognition of any kind is used anywhere on this service.
How the service is used. Which reels get watched and for how long, when a link is shared, and how uploads perform on different devices. This tells us what to fix and what to build. It is not sold, and it is not used to advertise to anyone.
Reel links are public
This is the most important thing on this page. A reel link works for anyone who has it — no account, no password. That is deliberate: players share reels with family and friends who have no reason to sign up. But it means a link passed on is a link that works, so treat one like you would any video you have posted publicly.
The full match recording is never public. The organiser who posted the game, people who manage it with them, and the person cutting the goals from it can see the whole thing. We also give individual players access to a match they played in, on request and for a set number of days — never by a public link, and only to someone signed in to an account we granted it to.
How long we keep it
The full recording: for now, until we've built that software. We're keeping full recordings while we develop it. The organiser who posted a game can ask us to delete its full recording at any time, and so can anyone who appears in it. We'll do it within a few days. A player we've given access to a full match still sees it for a set number of days only.
Goal clips and reels: no end date. A reel link keeps working, and the goals on it stay up, until somebody asks us to take them down — you, for a goal that's yours, or the organiser who posted the game. Nothing about a reel expires on a timer, and we don't delete one to save space. Closing your account takes the goals tagged to you with it.
Your account: until you ask us to close it, after which we delete it and the goals tagged to it.
Who else touches it
We use a small number of companies to run the service, and they only ever process this on our instructions:
Cloudflare Stream stores and plays the video. Supabase holds the accounts and the database. Vercel hosts the site. Resend sends the emails. Modal and GitHub run our video processing, and Anthropic and Google check clips for the software that finds goals. Sentry tells us when something breaks — it receives an account id and role so we can trace a fault, and is deliberately configured never to receive email addresses or IP addresses.
The goals are cut by people we engage to do it. They can see that match's recording only while they are working on that game, they are bound to keep it confidential, and their access ends when the reel is approved.
We don't sell anything to anyone, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
Cookies
One cookie, and it's the one that keeps you signed in. Our analytics count page views without cookies and without following anyone between sites. That is why this site has no cookie banner — there is nothing to ask you to consent to.
Children
You need to be 16 or over to hold an account here. Younger players do appear in footage of junior games, and where they do, the organiser is responsible for having the permission of a parent or guardian before uploading — see the terms. If you are a parent or guardian and your child appears in something on this service, write to us and we will take it down.
Getting yourself out of a reel
You don't have to have an account, and you don't have to explain why. Email privacy@highlightshub.app with the reel link and which goal or which part of the footage you mean. We will confirm within a few days and remove it.
The same address covers the rest of your rights: a copy of what we hold on you, a correction, deletion of your account, or an objection to us holding something. We answer within one month, which is what the law allows us. If we get it wrong you can complain to your national data protection regulator — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If we change what we do with any of this, we change this page, and the date at the bottom tells you when. Anything significant we will email account holders about rather than quietly editing.
